New Rochelle, NY – The Monroe University men's basketball team suffered an 86-69 loss to Harcum College on Saturday. Sophomore
Hassan Washington paced the Mustangs with 19 points, while fellow sophomore
Jordan Sanders (16) and freshman
Eric Mejia (14) following Washington in the points category.
The Bears stormed in front from the get-go and never relinquished the lead as Monroe tried to battle back but couldn't piece together enough of a run to cut into its deficit.
A 7-0 second half run by the Mustangs cut the Harcum lead to seven, however, that was as low as the margin would get the rest of the way as turnovers dealt the home team a bad card.
Nine different Mustangs scored on the day.
Monroe will look to get out of its current funk with a matchup set for Saturday, February 1, at Baltimore City Community College. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
