HIGHLAND, Kan., August 30, 2024 – Year 12 of the Monroe University football program kicks off this Saturday with a big first-time matchup on the road at Highland Community College. The Mustangs have put compiled one of their most challenging schedules in their history together for 2024, making for an exciting season to come.
Â
Monroe is coming off a 6-5 season in 2023 that saw them take on five nationally ranked opponents. Monroe's last two home games of 2023 featured a big change for the program, as the team officially moved to its new home stadium, The Stadium at Memorial Field, in Mount Vernon, N.Y. The Mustangs will play all four home games of the 2024 slate at Memorial Field.
Â
The Mustangs are on their way to Highland, Kan., for their season-opening matchup with Highland. This will be the first time the Mustangs and the Scotties, who have received votes in the Preseason and Week 1 NJCAA Football Rankings, have ever matched up. The Aug. 31 contest is set to kick off at 5 p.m. ET.
Â
The Mustangs then return home and remain in the northeast for their next set of games. Monroe will take on Sussex County Community College in its home opener on Saturday, Sept. 7. Kickoff at Memorial Field is scheduled for 6 p.m. for a primetime matchup in Mount Vernon. The Mustangs will then get a bye week before taking a short trip to Staten Island on Friday, Sept. 20, to take on Wagner College JV.
Â
The Mustangs return to The Stadium at Memorial Field to host No. 11 Georgia Military College for another highly anticipated matchup in Mount Vernon on Saturday, Sept. 28. After that, Monroe heads to Pennsylvania for the first of two games this season against rival Lackawanna College on Saturday, Oct. 5.
Â
The Mustangs are back at home the following week to welcome Community Christian College from Michigan to Mount Vernon on Saturday, Oct. 12, for Monroe's third of four games at home this season. Monroe then heads out to Long Island on Saturday, Oct. 19, for the Mustangs' yearly matchup at NJCAA Div. III No. 2 Nassau Community College.
Â
After another bye week, Saturday, Nov. 2, will see Monroe host Lackawanna at The Stadium at Memorial Field, in the final home game of the season. Another huge matchup is on the docket for the following weekend, as the Mustangs travel out to Utah to visit No. 5 Snow College on Saturday, Nov. 9. The Mustangs will then wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 16, with their first trip to The Apprentice School in Newport News, Va., after the two teams clashed for the first time last year.
