Men's Basketball Drops Final Battle For The Boot Contest To No. 12 College Of Southern Idaho

Twin Falls, ID – The Monroe University men's basketball team dropped its final game at the Battle for the Boot Tournament against No. 12 College of Southern Idaho, 96-75. The Mustangs finished in fourth place at the star-studded event.

The first half was not kind to the Mustangs as they fell behind, 56-31. Southern Idaho connected on ten three-pointers in the first half. While the Mustangs outscored the Golden Eagles, 44-40, across the final 20 minutes, the early deficit was too difficult to overcome.

Still, Monroe kept pace with the hosts of the tournament in points off turnovers (20-21), points in the paint (30-30) and second chance points (14-10).

All in all, freshman Eric Mejia concluded a breakout weekend with a team-high 18 points. Sophomore Devere Palmer Jr. followed Mejia in the scoring department with 13 points on 5-for-11 shooting from the field.

The Monroe University Invitational is on deck for the Mustangs. They will play three games in the tournament, with their first coming against Hagerstown Community College on Thursday, November 14 at 7:00 pm.
