Moore Earns Another Win as No. 10 Monroe Mustangs Women’s Track and Field Finishes Strong on Day 2 of Aggie Classic

GREENSBORO, N.C., April 23, 2022 – Aaliyah Moore earned her second first-place finish of the weekend on Saturday to highlight another strong outing for the No. 10-ranked Monroe College Mustangs women's track and field team on Saturday's Day 2 of the Aggie Classic, hosted by North Carolina A&T State University.

Moore led the way as a trio of Mustangs impressed in the 800-meter run on Saturday. Moore topped the field of 55 runners with a time of 2:08.58, a new career-best time for the sophomore. This time hits a historic milestone for Moore, as she joins Mustang legend Susan Ejore as the only Mustangs to ever run a sub-2:10 time in the outdoor 800m. Moore moves into first place in the NJCAA so far this season in the 800m, giving her the only sub-2:10 time in Division I this year.

Farrah Miller crossed the line in fifth place in the 800m on Saturday. She finished in 2:12.83 in her first attempt at the 800m this season, earning qualification for the 2022 NJCAA Div. I Outdoor Track & Field Championships with this new personal-best time. Tshwanelo Maruping made a strong run as well, finishing in 2:17.90 to take 12th overall and earn qualification for the NJCAA Championships.

Kristin Stickdorn picked up a third-place finish in the hammer throw on Saturday, making a long throw of 51.96 meters in the event. Gabrielle Riley made a long toss of 34.98 meters.

Chinenye Onuorah and Miller both ran in the 400-meter dash on Saturday. Onuorah clocked in with a time of 55.94 seconds, while Miller finished the race in 56.53 seconds.

The Mustangs are set to compete next in Philadelphia, Pa. as part of the historic Penn Relays. The three-day meet begins on Thursday, April 28.
