NICEVILLE, Fla., December 9, 2022 – The Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball team returned to the Florida Panhandle for the second time this season for another pair of contests down south. The Mustangs dropped their first matchup of the weekend against No. 8 Northwest Florida State College by a score of 72-23 at Raider Arena. The Raiders improve to 8-2 with the win, while the Mustangs drop to 7-6.
Paetynn Gray led the team with seven points in the game, adding four steals and two blocked shots as well.
Olivia Medford pulled down a team-high five rebounds, while also leading the team with three assists.
Emma Wilson-Saltos totaled four points, three rebounds, a block and a steal.
The Mustangs will look to bounce back on Saturday, Dec. 10, when they hit the court at the Raider Arena once again to take on No. 4 Eastern Florida State College. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. EST.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 11 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
