WAYNE, Pa., October 6, 2018 – With another strong day on defense and a balanced offensive attack, the No. 14-ranked Monroe College football team defeated Valley Forge Military College on the road by a score of 28-7 Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs remain unbeaten by improving to 4-0 on the year, while Valley Forge drops to 3-3 on the year.

Zaire Jones had two highlight-reel plays on the day. His first was a 90-yard touchdown run earlier in the game. Jones later ripped off a 40-yard touchdown on fourth down late in the third quarter to cap off the scoring at 28-7.

Other highlights for the Mustangs include a gritty touchdown catch by
Tyler Hodge, as well as a big catch for
Keveon Clark.

Defensively,
Grant Melton had an interception, as well as four tackles.
Niadre Zouzoua and
Jordan Valerius-Twyman were also able to get to the quarterback.

The Mustangs will face their toughest test of the season to date on Saturday, Oct. 13, when they visit No. 6 Lackawanna College for a Northeast Football Conference matchup in Scranton, Pa. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, and the newly added club men's volleyball team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
