Aaron Gaberman Tabbed Director of Sports Information

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Director of Athletics Luis Melendez has announced the hiring of Aaron Gaberman as the Monroe Mustangs new Director of Sports Information. Gaberman comes to Monroe with over eight years in the sports information industry from a wide array of collegiate programs. 

Prior to joining Monroe, Gaberman served as the Associate Director of Marketing and Communications at the United Jewish Federation of Stamford, New Canaan, and Darien. During his time at UJF, Gaberman ran the social media accounts, kept updating the federations website, and created various marketing materials and copy for design. He also oversaw the federations newspaper. Prior to UJF, Gaberman served as the Assistant Director of Strategic Communications for Penn State University Athletics for three years. During his time at Penn State, Gaberman handled all aspects of media relations and communication efforts for the Penn State men's lacrosse and women's ice hockey programs. Prior to Penn State, Gaberman was the Athletic Communication Coordinator at Sacred Heart University where he developed unique and creative social media content for various teams with a focus on improving engagement with fans, driving attendance, increasing revenue, and highlighting student-athletes while connecting them to the community. Before Sacred Heart, Gaberman served as the Media Relations Intern at Villanova University during the 2017-18 season. He was the primary media contact for the Villanova softball, men's golf, and water polo teams while also serving as the contact for the Varisty Club Hall of Fame. He also assisted with the 2017 NCAA Champion Basketball team as well as other varsity sports on campus. 

He has been a sports communications professional for over eight years and has a background in working with non-profit organizations as well. He received his undergraduate degree from Marist College in 2017 and a master's degree in athletic communications and media from Sacred Heart University in 2020. 

ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
