Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mustangs Control the Tempo, Pull Away for Convincing Win

New Rochelle, NY - The Mustangs asserted control from the opening minutes and never allowed the outcome to come into question, defeating Essex County 109-69 on the road.

Monroe set the tone immediately, dictating pace and physicality on both ends of the floor. The Mustangs defended with purpose, closing gaps and forcing contested looks, while the offense operated with patience and balance. Early ball movement created clean scoring opportunities, allowing Monroe to establish momentum and take control of the game's rhythm.

As the first half unfolded, every attempt by the opposition to gain traction was met with discipline. Monroe rebounded with force, limited second chances, and consistently turned stops into points. The Mustangs' ability to execute in the half court and capitalize in transition stretched the margin and shifted the game firmly in their favor.

The second half was a showcase of maturity. Monroe elevated its defensive intensity, tightening rotations and controlling the glass, while the offense continued to find the right looks. Possessions were deliberate, spacing was precise, and scoring came from multiple spots on the floor.

Naceiar Kirksey led the way with a game-high 25 points in just 19 minutes, scoring at all three levels while knocking down four three-pointers. Kirksey was aggressive from the opening tip and complemented his scoring with five assists, setting the tone for Monroe's offense.

Faquir Mosley controlled the tempo throughout the night, finishing with 16 points and six assists while shooting 5-of-6 from the field. Mosley consistently created opportunities for his teammates and pushed the pace as the Mustangs steadily extended their advantage.

The Mustangs now turn their heads to their long-time rivals in Harcum, with Monroe set to carry its confidence and edge into a matchup that always brings heightened intensity.
