Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Women's Volleyball Topples Raritan Valley And PSU Lehigh Valley

North Branch, NJ – The Monroe University women's volleyball swept both of its Saturday matchups at the Raritan Valley Community College tri-match, defeating the Lions (25-7, 25-11, 25-14) before toppling Penn State Lehigh Valley (25-3, 25-5, 25-6).

The Mustangs ran through the competition in their doubleheader, earning their third consecutive straight-set victory and fourth straight win overall. Sophomore Deyja Tshibangu led the way across the two contests with 19 kills.

After defeating Raritan Valley in late-September at the Monroe Invitational, the Mustangs once again dethroned one of the top teams in NJCAA Division III. A 15-1 run in set one set the tone for the matchup as the visitors made quick work of the Lions in the final two sets.

Sophomore Emma Dedushaj continued her meteoric climb up the single-season digs leaderboard for Monroe with 24. The New Haven transfer sits at 397 digs on the year, 128 off surpassing Nashally Eleutiza (2017) for fifth on the list.

In game two against Lehigh Valley, the Mustangs coasted. Freshman Annie Callen was the catalyst, leading the team in digs with 12 while also matching a team-high four service aces. Freshman Alisha Pereira Rodriguez-Wells paced the team with ten kills.

Monroe closed the first set on a 25-1 run after trailing 2-0 early. Set two was much of the same as the Mustangs generated plenty of offense on the Nittany Lions. Dedushaj then closed out the tri-match with back-to-back kills — just her third and fourth on the season.

This team is rolling and will head to Maryland next for a three-match stint. The first opponent on the schedule is Hagerstown Community College, which will take place on Friday at 6:00 pm.
