Bel Air, MD – The Monroe University baseball team suffered a doubleheader sweep at Harford Community College on Saturday. The Mustangs lost game one to the Fighting Owls, 8-0, before falling in game two, 9-4.
The opening game of the weekend saw Monroe fall behind by seven runs across the opening two frames. Harford never looked back as it limited the Mustangs to two hits in the seven-inning contest.
Freshman
Ricardo Feliz hurled two scoreless innings in relief.
Monroe bounced back early in game two thanks to a three-run second inning. Both runs were scored via errors by the Fighting Owls.
Harford wound up taking the lead in the fourth, but an RBI single by sophomore
Anthony Fernandez made it a 5-4 game in the fifth. However, Harford didn't stop scoring, rallying to score four more runs to snatch the two-game sweep.
Freshman
Ryan Marchina recorded the lone extra base hit for the Mustangs in the loss, also generating a walk across his four plate appearances.
Monroe, still in search of its first win of 2025, will take on Delaware Technical Community College on Sunday in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11:00 am.
