Nephtali Delgado Reyes Achieves 400 Career Wins in Women's Volleyball's 3-0 Win Over The New School

New Rochelle, NY – Head coach Nephtali Delgado Reyes of the Monroe University women's volleyball earned his 400th career win on Thursday in a 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-7) win over The New School University.

Delgado Reyes has 12 region championships, 11 district titles and has appeared in the NJCAA National Tournament on eight different occasions. During his tenure he has elevated numerous student-athletes to four year programs and has led a lasting legacy with the Mustangs.

In the midst of a 21-game win streak — having not lost since September 5 — Delgado Reyes achieved the career milestone in fitting fashion with the team's 20th straight set victory of the 2025 season against the Narwhals.

It was an overall team effort with the Mustangs limiting the Narwhals to single-digit points twice on the night. Sophomore Jelena Peric had an efficient night with eight kills on ten attempts, while freshman Annie Callen and sophomore Elin De Boer led the way with five service aces apiece.

A 7-0 run to start the match and an 8-0 run in the latter stages of the first set put the Mustangs in an advantageous position. Three consecutive attack errors put an end to set two, while a De Boer tallied all five of her service aces during a 10-0 run for Monroe in the third set.

Kills by freshmen Alisha Pereira Rodriguez-Wells and Bianca Valdes, and sophomore Ziyan Zhang kicked off the celebration as the Mustangs swarmed their head coach at the conclusion of the match.

Monroe, winners of 21-straight, will host a tri-match against Roxbury Community College and Delaware Technical Community College on Saturday. The first game against Delaware Tech will be at 10:00 am.
