New Rochelle, NY – The Monroe University JV men's basketball team earned a decisive, 98-61, victory over Lancaster Bible College JV on Monday evening, completing the season sweep of the Chargers.
It was an all-around effort for the Mustangs as 12 players recorded points. Of the starters, sophomore
Luther Reid Jr. scored 15 points in just 12 minutes of action thanks to an impressive 5-for-8 mark from deep.
Off the bench, freshman
Tra'Von Dubois scored 15, while sophomore
Amarion Berry recorded 14 points on 4-for-5 shooting from beyond the arc. Freshman
DJ Collins continued the three-point parade with four makes from deep.
Overall, Monroe connected on 19 threes, shattering a season-high.
The Mustangs controlled this game from the jump as the Chargers couldn't keep up with the hot shooting and transition offense. Berry was had the hot hand in the first half with 11 points on three threes as Monroe took a 54-24 lead into the locker room.
The second half began with a trio of threes from Reid Jr., which put any sort of comeback out of the question. A jumper from sophomore
Clarence Ruffin pushed the lead to 41. Dubois dialed up a three with 8:51 left to put the Mustangs ahead by 46 — their largest lead of the night.
Monroe's win streak moves to three and it will take on rivals Harcum College on Thursday, January 30, at 7:00 pm in Bryn Mawr, PA.

The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
