NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., January 24, 2023 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team pushed its winning streak to four on Tuesday after defeating Manhattanville College JV, 76-66, at the Monroe Athletic Complex, the Mustangs' second victory over the Valiants in the last eight days. The Mustangs improve to 12-4 with the win.
Having faced off just eight days ago, Tuesday's matchup got off to a very tight start.
Ebrihima Dibasey broke an 8-8 tie with a three with 15:01 on the clock. After a jumper by Manhattanville's Robert Camaj,
Prince-Malachi Reid hit a three of his own to put Monroe up by four. Manhattanville's Anthony Russo then made back-to-back threes, helping the Valiants go on a 10-4 run to take a 20-18 lead.
The Mustangs fired back with seven straight to go up by five, but the Valiants followed up with a 7-0 run to go back on top. The game was tied at 34-34 late in the frame when the Mustangs scored the final eight points of the half, taking a 42-34 advantage into the locker room.
Reid led three Mustangs in double-digits at the half with 13 points, as well as a team-high four assists.
Davion Bonar had 11 points with four rebounds and three steals. Dibasey totaled 10 points in the first half.
Richie Guillaume came off the bench and pulled down a team-high six rebounds.
The Valiants opened the second half with a three, but the Mustangs carried the momentum, going on a 10-2 run to take a 52-39 advantage. An 8-0 run at the midway point of the half pushed Monroe's lead to 18 points. The Valiants had a run late in the game, scoring eight straight points to cut the deficit back down to 10 with 3:04 to play, but the Mustangs managed to hold off the Valiants down the stretch to hang on for the 10-point victory.
Reid led the Mustangs with 25 points on the evening. Dibasey finished with 15 points, while Bonar totaled 11 with eight rebounds and four assists.

Jaheim Gregory and Guillaume all finished with six points, while Guillaume led the team with 10 rebounds.
The Mustangs are back on the road on Thursday, Jan. 26, taking a trip into Brooklyn to take on 238 Academy. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 35 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well the Monroe College marching band and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
