The Mustangs improve to 2-1 on the season with the win, while the Lancers start their year 0-1.

In a first half in which the Mustangs fired off 20 shot attempts and put 10 of them on goal, the lone goal of the first 45 minutes came off the foot of Ema Cruz, who scored in the 18th minute off an assist from Daniela De Souza, giving the Mustangs a 1-0 edge going into halftime.

In the 61st minute, the Mustangs doubled the lead when Louise Featherstone potted her first goal as a Mustang, putting Monroe ahead, 2-0. Shortly after, Luci Schroder netted her first of the year for the Mustangs in the 68th minute, set up by Paige Coghill, to make it a 3-0 game.

Stephanie Hodgson registered a shutout victory in the win despite not facing a shot, improving her record to 2-1 on the year. Courtney Rogers made 10 saves for the Lancers, but allowed three goals to fall to 0-1.
