LEVELLAND, Texas, November 20, 2021 – The Monroe College Mustangs men's basketball team went to overtime for the second straight day at the Texan Classic in Levelland, Texas, on Saturday, but ultimately dropped a 99-86 final to New Mexico Military Institute. The Mustangs fall to 3-3 on the year with the loss, while the Broncos improve to 5-4.
Melvin Council Jr. once again had a big scoring day, finishing with 28 points to go with four rebounds and four steals.
Jadon Archer tallied 12 points with three steals.
Isac Ahnstrand picked up 11 points and matched
Braelon Joe for a team-high three assists.
Jerald Campbell scored nine points off the bench.
Hamdel Mohammed led the Mustangs with seven rebounds.
The Mustangs wrap up their weekend in Texas on Sunday with a 1 p.m. EST matchup against Howard College.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 39 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
