TALLAHASSEE, Fla., November 20, 2021 – The Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball team opened its weekend at the Tallahassee Community College Classic with a 74-42 defeat at the hands of Indian River State College on Friday. The Mustangs fall to 1-6 overall, while the River improve to 4-3.
Naomi Barnwell and
Aysia Pink matched for a team-high nine points in the game.
Olivia Medford totaled seven points and 11 rebounds.
Daja Wentz also scored seven points to go with two assists and two steals.
Amy Sangare finished with three points and eight boards.
The Mustangs will look to get back in the win column on Saturday, Nov. 20, when they take on South Georgia Technical College in Tallahassee. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 39 teams competing across nine sports. There are 21 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, the Monroe College marching band, and the newly added esports and men's volleyball programs, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 18 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
