NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., January 19, 2020 – In the final contest of the Monroe College MLK Classic at the Monroe Athletic Complex, the Monroe College Mustangs women's basketball team doubled up Erie Community College for a 58-29 victory on Sunday. The Mustangs improved to 11-9 overall with the win, while the Kats drop to 4-13.
Devon Adams led the Mustangs with 11 points in the win, adding eight rebounds and six blocked shots in an impressive effort.
Cheyenne Talbot and
ToniRenee Blanford matched with nine points and three assists apiece.
Daja Wentz added another eight points for Monroe in the win.
The Mustangs take to the road on Thursday, Jan. 23, with a short trip to Westchester Community College in Valhalla, N.Y. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
