Monroe Mustangs JV Men’s Basketball Drops Close Conference Matchup at Prestige Prep

LINDEN, N.J., January 10, 2020 – In just the second American Independent Post Grad and Collegiate Conference (AIPGCC) matchup of its season, the Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team dropped a close matchup at Prestige Preparatory Academy, 84-80, Friday evening. The mustangs fall to 4-10 overall and 1-1 in conference play with the loss, while the Patriots improve to 1-1 in AIPGCC contests.
 
James Paul led the Mustangs in scoring in the game, totaling a season-high 19 points. Jedidiah Ashton was next with 15 points to go with seven rebounds. Erizander Laureano pair a trio of three-pointers and finished with 13 points. Levan Foster nearly registered a double-double with 11 points and eight rebounds.
 
The Mustangs return home to take on the ASA College JV team on Tuesday, Jan. 14, in AIPGCC action at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. following the Mustangs women's basketball team's matchup against SUNY Sullivan.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
