Monroe Football Alumni Ryan Fulse ’16 and Montre Gregory ’15 Receive NFL Rookie Minicamp Invitations

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., May 15, 2019 – A pair of former Monroe College Mustangs football student-athletes are receiving their opportunities to play in the NFL, as running back Ryan Fulse was invited to the Philadelphia Eagles' rookie minicamp, and defensive back Montre Gregory received an invitation to rookie minicamp with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fulse was a prolific running back for the Mustangs in 2015 and 2016. He holds the program record for rushing yards in a single season after rushing for 958 yards in 2016. Fulse's nine touchdowns that year still stand as a program record as well. He was selected to the Northeast Football Conference (NEFC) All-Conference First Team in 2016. Fulse finished with 1,082 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in 14 games for Monroe.

Fulse moved on to NCAA Division I FCS Wagner College to continue his collegiate career. He reached new heights with the Seahawks, totaling 3,090 rushing yards across two seasons and 22 games, an average of 140.5 rushing yards per game. Fulse led FCS football in all-purpose yards (177.36 yards per game) and was second in rushing yards with 1,710 in 2018. He was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, frequently regarded as the Heisman Trophy of FCS. In 2018, Fulse was named First-Team All-American by the Associated Press, Walter Camp Football Foundation and STATS FCS, as receiving First-Team honors by the ECAC and the Northeast Conference (NEC).

Fulse headed to rookie minicamp with the Philadelphia Eagles, but also had the opportunity to try out with the Oakland Raiders shortly after the NFL Draft in April.

Gregory came to Monroe as a transfer from Butler Community College, playing for the Mustangs in 2015. He played in just five games for Monroe, totaling nine tackles and three passes defensed, two of which came in a crucial NEFC matchup against Lackawanna College.

Gregory then continued his collegiate football career at NCAA Division I FBS Bowling Green State University, where he played three seasons, competed in 32 games and made 20 total starts at cornerback. Gregory totaled 68 tackles, 18 passes defensed, an interception and a sack in his three seasons at Bowling Green. He participated in the NFLPA Bowl back in January, where he was mentored by professional coaches while competing with some of the top draft-eligible players from around the country.

Before heading to rookie minicamp with the Los Angeles Chargers, Gregory also had an opportunity to try out with the Kansas City Chiefs after the NFL Draft in April.
