NEWARK, N.J., February 21, 2019 – The Monroe Mustangs JV men's basketball team fell just short at The Robinson School in an AIPGCC matchup on Thursday, falling by the final score of 79-77.
The Mustangs outscored The Robinson School, 42-39, in the first half, but the Phoenix came back in the second half, outscoring Monroe, 40-35 to pick up the 79-77 victory.
With the loss, the Mustangs drop to 19-8 (10-4 AIPGCC) on the season.
Aaron Burton led the Mustangs with 16 points and seven rebounds, while
Javandre House added 11 points and three assists.
The Mustangs shot 46.4 percent from the floor, but The Robinson School shot just a bit better at 48.2 percent.
The Mustangs are back in action on Saturday, Feb. 23 when they take on SUNY Sullivan JV on Sophomore Day at the Monroe Athletic Complex in New Rochelle, N.Y. at 4 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
