LOCH SHELDRAKE, N.Y., February 18, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team took to the road Monday evening to take on American Independent Post Grade and Collegiate Conference (AIPGCC) foe SUNY Sullivan JV, defeating the Generals by a score of 85-60. The Mustangs improve to 18-7 overall and 10-3 in conference play with the win, while the Generals fall to 10-6 and 4-6.
Aaron Burton led the Mustangs with 20 points after shooting 9-of-11 from the field in the win.
Anthony Monti followed with 16 points, adding seven rebounds and six assists. Joans Gjeci led the team with nine rebounds, picking up six points and five assists as well.
Troy Tallman netted 11 points off the bench, including a trio of three-pointers.
Luis Quinones scored 10 points as the fourth Mustang in double figures.
The Mustangs get right back to work tomorrow evening, Feb. 19, when they host ASA College JV at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
