NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., December 7, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team dropped an 82-70 final score to Army Preparatory School Saturday evening at the Monroe Athletic Complex as part of the Monroe Roundball Classic. The Mustangs fall to 3-4 on the year while Army Prep improves to 10-1.
Jedidiah Ashton led a pack of four Mustangs to reach double figures on Saturday, scoring 11 points with six rebounds.
Luis Quinones netted 10 points with five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Jerald Campbell also had 10 points with four boards and two steals.
James Paul matched both of them with 10 points as well.
Daniel Perez matched Ashton's six rebounds and added six points.
The Mustangs wrap up their weekend on Sunday, Dec. 8, when they close out the Monroe Roundball Classic against the Bryant and Stratton College V.I.T. team. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
