Monroe Mustangs Men’s Basketball Drops Weekend Closer to Potomac State

BEL AIR, Md., December 22, 2019 – In its final game of the Harford Hoops Classic, hosted by Harford Community College at the APG Federal Credit Union Arena, the Monroe College Mustangs men's basketball team fell to Potomac State College of WVU, 83-72, Sunday afternoon. The Mustangs fall to 10-4 overall with the loss, while the Catamounts improve to 7-4 on the year.
 
Zion Styles led the Mustangs with 23 points in the game, narrowly missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Juan Felix Rodriguez completed the double-double with 18 points and a team-high 10 boards. Elijah Mitchell filled up the stat sheet with 14 points, five rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block.
 
The Mustangs will look to rebound when they travel down to Florida for the final four days of December. They will begin their trip down south with the Tallahassee Community College Democrat Holiday Classic in Tallahassee, Fla., opening play against No. 12 Tallahassee on Saturday, Dec. 28. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
