NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y., November 14, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team rolled to a 91-47 victory over Touro College at the Monroe Athletic Complex Thursday evening. The Mustangs improve to 2-1 on the season with the win.
Deandre Hayes was one of five Mustangs to score in double figures on Thursday, leading the way with 16 points.
Jerald Campbell and
Yannis Embert matched with 12 points apiece.
Erizander Laureano scored 11 points with a team high of three baskets from beyond the arc.
Daniel Perez added 10 points and nine rebounds.
Jedidiah Ashton just missed a double-double with nine points and a team-high 11 boards.
Luis Quinones also added nine points.
The Mustangs return to action on Saturday, Nov. 16, when they visit Naval Academy Preparatory School in Annapolis, Md. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 31 teams competing across nine sports. There are 19 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has 12 teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
