Mustangs JV Men’s Basketball Picks up Overtime Victory at NYIA

BINGHAMTON, N.Y., January 27, 2019 – After a neck-and-neck 40 minutes that led to overtime, a dominant 11-1 margin in the extra period lifted the Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team to an 83-73 overtime victory at New York International Academy on Sunday. The Mustangs improve to 13-6 overall with the win.
 
Alfredo Robles led the Mustangs on Sunday, registering a double-double with team highs of 21 points and 11 rebounds. Aaron Burton added 15 points and seven boards. Javaughn Daniel picked up 16 points and eight rebounds off the bench in the win. Luis Quinones contributed 10 points, five boards and a pair of blocks.
 
The Mustangs return home on Wednesday, Jan. 30, when they host the College of Mount Saint Vincent JV team for American Independent Post Grad and Collegiate Conference (AIPGCC) action at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
