Mustangs JV Men’s Basketball Drops Close Conference Matchup at Metro-BDA

BROOKLYN, N.Y., January 16, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team fell just short in a close American Independent Post Grad and Collegiate Conference (AIPGCC) contest on Wednesday, dropping an 83-82 decision at Metro-BDA. The Mustangs fall to 10-6 on the season with the loss and 5-2 in AIPGCC play.
 
Alfredo Robles had his best game of the season on Wednesday, finishing with a season-high, and team-high 21 points. Javaughn Daniel produced 13 points and four rebounds. Aaron Burton had 12 points and six boards. Joans Gjeci matched Burton's six rebounds, adding nine points. Rakim Bryant added nine points as well.
 
The Mustangs return to action tomorrow, Jan. 17, when they host ASA College JV at the Monroe Athletic Complex. Tip-off is slated for 5 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
