HARRISBURG, Pa., January 12, 2019 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team hit the road on Saturday to take on Harrisburg Area Community College, defeating the Hawks by a score of 82-66. The Mustangs improve to 11-4 on the year with the win, while the Hawks drop to 10-6.
Luis Quinones led the Mustangs with 14 points on the afternoon.
Aaron Burton followed with 13 points, adding five rebounds, three blocks and three steals.
Anthony Monti and
Rakim Bryant matched with 11 points apiece, with Monti also picked up four steals and two assists.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday, Jan. 16, when they visit Metro-BDA for an American Independent Post Grad and Collegiate Conference (AIPGCC) matchup in Brooklyn, N.Y. This game was rescheduled after being postponed this past Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
