LINDEN, N.J., February 21, 2018 – The Monroe Mustangs' JV men's basketball team fell to the Prestige Preparatory Academy Patriots on Wednesday, 81-62, dropping back to .500 on the season.
Down by just one at the half, the Mustangs' struggled to score in the second half, shooting just 31.3 percent as the Patriots pulled away with a 45-point half to pick up an 81-62 victory.
Rakim Bryant led the way for the Mustangs with 22 points, while
Isaiah Allen-Smith recorded his second-career double-double, with 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Amadou Camara also scored in double figures for the Mustangs, with 12 points. With the loss, Monroe drops back to .500, 14-14, with just one game remaining before the AIPGC Championship Tournament beginning on Friday, March 9 at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
The Mustangs wrap up the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 24 when they take on the Monroe Express at 1 p.m. at the Monroe Athletic Complex.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
