Mustangs’ JV Men’s Basketball Edged by Metro BDA

BROOKLYN, N.Y., February 13, 2018 – Though the Mustangs' led by seven at the half, Monroe Mustangs' JV men's basketball squandered their eight-point halftime lead and fell, 84-79, to Metro BDA on Tuesday, falling to 14-13 on the season.
 
Led by Rakim Bryant's nine first-half points, Monroe took a 38-31 lead into the halftime break.
 
But the Mustangs shot just 36.6 percent in the second half, down from 43.3 percent in the first, and were outscored by 12 en route to Metro BDA's 84-79 victory.
 
Bryant led the Mustangs with 22 points, while Isaiah Allen-Smith tallied his first double-double of the season, with 20 points and a season-high 12 rebounds.
 
Marcus Thompson also scored in double figures for the Mustangs with 12 points to go along with six rebounds.
 
Amadou Camara also tied his career-high, dishing out 11 assists to lead Monroe.
 
The Mustangs next head to Bryn Mawr, Pa. on Saturday, Feb. 17 to take on Harcum College JV at 12 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
