WOODSTOCK, Conn., February 10, 2018 –
Rakim Bryant dropped a career-high 30 points, but the Monroe Mustangs' JV men's basketball team fell to the Woodstock Academy, 97-79 on Saturday afternoon in Connecticut.
Down by 11 at the half, the Centaurs opened the second half on an 18-6 run to take a 66-43 lead. But the Mustangs responded and cut the deficit to just 10 with 4:05 play.
But Woodstock Academy pulled away with a 10-2 and picked up a 97-79 victory.
Bryant tallied a career-high 30 points, shooting 57.9 percent from the floor and 53.8 percent from three, but was the only Mustang to record double figures.
Christopher Davis fell a point shy of his second-consecutive double-double, with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
The Mustangs will look to get back on track when they travel to Metro BDA on Tuesday, Feb. 13 to take on the Wolves at 6:30 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I).
