STATEN ISLAND, N.Y., December 22, 2018 – The Monroe College Mustangs JV men's basketball team dropped a 62-59 decision at CNC Leadership Prep on Saturday in American Independent Post Grad and Collegiate Conference action. The Mustangs fall to 7-4 on the year and 4-1 in conference play with the loss.
Isaiah Allen-Smith led the team with 19 points on Saturday, adding four rebounds.
Kevin Benjamin Jr. contributed 11 points and seven rebounds.
Aaron Burton scored seven points, pulled down five boards and blocked a shot.
The Mustangs will look to bounce back when they play next on Friday, Dec. 28, in a road contest at Bryant & Stratton College in Norfolk, Va. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 27 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's and women's rugby, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus as of the fall of 2017, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
