NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y, January 20, 2018 – Down by 14 at the half, the Monroe Mustangs' JV men's basketball team mounted a furious, second half rally but fell just short to undefeated The Robinson School, 86-83.

The Mustangs shot just 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, turned the ball over 17 times and headed into halftime down 45-31.
 
But the Mustangs mounted a comeback effort in the second half, shooting 55.6 percent from the floor and outrebounding the Phoenix 23-18, however their valiant effort fell just short, as The Robinson School pulled out an 86-83 victory to stay undefeated, while the Mustangs fell to 9-8.
 
Brian Kennedy led the Mustangs with 28 points, while Marcus Thompson tallied 23 points to go along with 16 rebounds for his third-straight double-double and fifth on the season.
 
Javandre House also scored double figures for the Mustangs with 13 points. Monroe shot 44.9 percent from the floor for the game, and 43.8 percent from beyond the arc.
 
The Mustangs continue their extended road stint on Wednesday, Jan. 24 when they head to Our Saviour Lutheran to take on the Falcons at 6 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of Monroe's Bronx campus has six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning with their inaugural seasons in the fall of 2017.
