New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Monroe College Men's JV basketball team fell to the United States Military Academy Prep School, 77-62, in a game played in New Rochelle on Saturday. Three Mustangs reached double-figures in scoring, led by
Kenwyn Christian's double-double of 11 points, 10 rebounds and three steals.
Andre Morgan opened the scoring with a pair of free throws just seconds into the game. Army Prep's Black Knights quickly tied it and then took the lead. Monroe got the score close several times in the first 20 minutes, helped by a three-pointer by
Mario Hernandez at 10:30 that made the score 14-11. Subsequent buckets from
James Brady and Morgan narrowed the 11-point deficit down to six points.
The Black Knights led at the half, 35-29.
Christian scored at the open of the second half to pull the Mustangs within four points, but Army Prep went on to win, 77-62. In the game, Brady led the team with 15 points. Morgan added 13. Hernandez scored nine off the bench.
The team is now 11-14 on the year.
The Monroe College Men's JV basketball team returns to action on Tuesday, February 21, when they host CNC Leadership Academy at 8:00 pm.
