Monroe Women’s Basketball Falls in Overtime to Monroe Community College

BALTIMORE, Md., December 2, 2017 – In its first contest of the Charm City Classic, hosted by Baltimore City Community College, the Monroe College women's basketball team fell to Monroe Community College, in a contest that needed overtime to decide it, by a score of 91-82 on Friday. The Mustangs fall to 3-4 on the season with Friday's defeat.
 
Samantha Hines had a fantastic game for the Mustangs, totaling 24 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double, and adding two blocks, two assists and two steals to fill up the stat sheet. Lisana Burnett just missed a double-double with eight points and 13 boards, as well as team-highs of five assists and five steals. Jada Banks finished with 14 points and eight rebounds, while Amani Williams compiled 12 points, six boards and three helpers. Phyness Baldwin came off the bench to score 10 points in 12 minutes.
 
The Mustangs will look to bounce back on Saturday, Dec. 2, when they take on Chesapeake College in their second matchup of the Charm City Classic. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
 
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE COLLEGE
The athletic program at Monroe College encompasses a total of 26 teams competing across nine sports. There are 18 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as club men's rugby, and the newly added club women's rugby team, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Monroe Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, will have six teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level beginning in the fall of 2017.
