Staten Island, N.Y. – The Monroe College Junior Varsity Men's Basketball team fell to CNC Leadership Academy of Staten Island, 69-63, on Saturday. With the loss, the team is now 5-6 on the season.
In his first action of the season,
James Brady led the team with 16 points on 3-of-5 three-pointers.
Andre Morgan finished with a double-double, totaling 15 points and 11 rebounds.
Nolen Irby and
Michael-Roy Miller each finished with 11 points. The Mustangs shot 7-16 (46.7%) from behind the three-point line.
Monroe came out on fire, jumping to a 17-6 lead in the first five minutes of action. Miller and
Kenwyn Christian combined for 11 of the 17 points. The advantage grew as large as 17 points for the Mustangs, when
Anthony Fakoya made the score 36-19 courtesy of a three-pointer with 6:28 left. Leadership came back and tied the score at halftime, 39-all.
The Mustangs eventually held a six-point lead on a Morgan bucket with 8:16 left. Leadership took the lead with five minutes left and went on to win, 69-63.
The Monroe College JV Basketball team will return to action on Tuesday, January 10th, hosting New York International Academy at 5:00 PM.
