Springfield, Mass. – The Monroe College JV Basketball team fell to Commonwealth Academy, 60-53, on Saturday. Monroe got off to a decent start, leading 38-34 at the half, but shooting struggles limited them to just 15 second-half points in the defeat.
The first 6:50 of action saw the Mustangs build a 15-5 lead on baskets from
Nolen Irby,
Andre Morgan,
James Brady,
Michael-Roy Miller, and
Kenwyn Christian. In fact, Morgan finished with a double-double of 16 points and a season-high 18 rebounds. The Commonwealth Academy fought back and reduced the deficit to just a single point on three separate occasions in the first half. An Irby jumper in the final seconds gave the Mustangs a 38-34 lead at the half.
The Tornadoes took the lead early in the second half and went on to a 60-53 win. The Monroe College JV Basketball team is now 9-10 on the season. They will return to action on Tuesday, January 31st, against the College of New Rochelle at 6:00 PM.
