New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Monroe College baseball team lost 10-6 to Rowan College at Gloucester County on Wednesday, despite hitting three home runs during the match. The Mustangs are now 23-12 on the season.
Monroe fell behind 6-0 as Gloucester scored six runs across the first four innings. The Mustangs finally got on the board in the top of the fifth by scoring three times. After
Ramger Iglesias reached on an error and
Ronald Jackson walked,
John Russo blasted a three-run home run over the wall to left-center. It was Russo's third homer of the season, making him second on the team after
Cam Crabbe's six, and brought the Mustangs within 6-3.
Monroe added a run in the eighth on an
Isaiah Torres solo shot, and got two more in the ninth on a solo blast off the bat of Crabbe and an RBI single from
Michael Ramirez that scored Jackson. Despite the three home runs, the Mustangs fell 10-6.
Xavier Bilodeau suffered his first loss of the season and is now 2-1.
Vincent Ruel and
Jose Sierra also pitched in relief in this game.
The Monroe College baseball team will continue its 14-game road trip with an away contest against Garrett College in McHenry, Maryland. The doubleheader on Friday, April 22, is slated to begin at 3:00 PM.
