Rockville, Md. – The Monroe College Junior Varsity Basketball team participated in the Montgomery College Tournament over the weekend, going 0-2. The Mustangs lost to Essex County College, 86-52, and dropped another game to Erie Community College, 84-64.
In the loss to Essex, Monroe trailed by 21 at the half and never recovered. Three Mustangs finished in double figures.
Damont Kearse Jr. earned a dozen points, while
Michael-Roy Miller came off the bench to score ten.
Tony Morales earned a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
In the setback to the Kats, Monroe was in the game early on and trailed at the half by just three points, 37-34. Morales and Miller were offensive standouts for the Mustangs again, each finishing with a dozen points.
Nolen Irby and
Ismeill Etienne both added ten.
The Monroe College JV Basketball team is now 5-5 on the season. They will return to action on Saturday, January 7th, against CNC Leadership Academy in Staten Island.
