New Rochelle, NY – The Monroe College Junior Varsity Basketball team improved to 3-0 on the season with a pair of weekend wins over the College of New Rochelle and the College of Mount St. Vincent.
On Friday, the Mustangs bested their New Rochelle neighbors, 92-62.
Mario Hernandez scored a game-high 22 points on 10-for-13 shooting.
Andre Morgan chipped in with 20 points, while
Tony Morales had a dozen and
Anthony Fakoya added ten. Monroe built a 22-point halftime cushion, and stretched the lead to 30 points by the end of the game. As a team, the Mustangs shot 66.7% from the field and grabbed 11 steals.
On Sunday, the team improved to 3-0 with an 84-55 victory over Mount St. Vincent. Hernandez and Morgan led the way once again; Hernandez totaled 23 points, and Morgan earned 21 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Returning sophomore
Lamontrell Rice played all 40 minutes, totaling 11 points and five assists.
The Monroe College JV Basketball team will return to action on Thursday, November 17
th, hosting New York International Academy at 7:00 PM.
