Baltimore, Md. - The Monroe College Volleyball team captured its fifth-consecutive Region XV championship on Saturday. The Mustangs reached the milestone with a pair of 3-0 wins over Baltimore City Community College and Harford Community College.
Monroe dominated play against Baltimore City, taking the three sets with scores of 25-17, 25-5, and 25-8. Kathrin Pasel collected a match-best ten kills, while
Carla Soufront dished out 22 assists. Freshman Anyela Aquino recorded seven service aces, while Neysha Gonzalez had six digs.
The Mustangs made it a clean sweep by defeating Harford with scores of 25-11, 25-15, and 25-20.
Cristen Coryatt collected a match-best 17 kills, while
Karen Souza had three solo blocks.
The Monroe College Volleyball team, now 20-11 overall on the season, will host the District Championship next weekend. If the Mustangs win, they will compete in the National Tournament in Casper, Wyoming.
