New Rochelle, N.Y. - The Monroe College junior varsity basketball team fell to Roxbury Community College, in a 79-75 game played in New Rochelle on Sunday. The game came down to the final seconds before the Tigers edged out the Mustangs for the win.
Leading the way for Monroe was freshman,
Jason Barrera. The guard came off the bench to lead the team with 23 points. He was 9-14 from the field and grabbed nine rebounds.
Justin Wilson posted his first double-double of the season, totaling 10 points and ten rebounds. Finally, Azmi Abu-Ahmad got hot late and finished with 21 points and 11 boards. He had 3-of-5 shots from the three-point line.
The Monroe College junior varsity team is now 7-5 on the season. They return to action on Saturday, January 9, when they face Rise Academy in Philadelphia.
