Mike Tuitt – Assistant Coach

Coach Tuitt is a former Mustang who can speak first-hand of the opportunity playing ball for Monroe can bring.  A Rookie of the Year as a Mustang point guard in 2008-09, he led the team in assists on the way to a District Championship.

Prior to Monroe he was a First-team All-PSAL player at Gompers HS in the Bronx, leading the team in scoring with 25 ppg in his junior year.
He then transferred to American Christain prep school in his senior year where he won a national championship, scoring 12 ppg, 6 apg, and 4 rpg.  But his most important numbers came in the classroom where he made the Dean’s list with a 3.5 GPA.   Of note, his back court mate at American Christian was Tyreke Evans, who went on to play in the NBA.

Coach Tuitt's excellent academic record continued at Hampton University where he graduated with a BA in Sports Management, making the Dean’s list with a 3.5 GPA.   In 2010-11 the Pirates were MEAC champions and Tuitt played for them in the NCAA tournament.
