Davonne Buckson

A childhood friend and coaching colleague of Head Coach Chris Neely, Coach Buckson's experience playing the game of basketball, style of teaching, and love for the game will provide Monroe’s JV with great leadership. He brings with him an extensive knowledge of the game. Prior to Monroe, Coach Buckson coached and taught basketball at various levels.

He’s also been an educator. He was Assistant JV Coach, Freshman Head Coach, and Assistant Athletic Director at his alma mater Cardinal Hayes. Coach Buckson also taught US and Global History for five years at Hayes. Currently, he serves as Dean of Students and Head Coach at Renaissance Leadership Academy in Harlem, where he has led his team to several tournament championships. Coach Buckson started his coaching career at the Dunlevy Milbank Center. His background also includes coaching AAU Basketball for powerhouses like the Riverside Church Hawks and the Riverbank State Park Running Rebels, leading to them  to win many championships.

Coach Buckson has also participated in Basketball Camps such as 5 Star, Riverbank and the College of Holy Cross, teaching campers the fundamentals of the game. Coach Buckson attended Dominican College where he was a four-year letterman on a nationally-ranked team.

He also played at Cardinal Hayes High School.
