Nelson split the catching duties last season for Monroe. This year the powerful switch hitter will be platooning between the third base and catcher positions. Nelson is an intimidating figure at the plate who can hit the ball into the gaps with power and even hit one over the fence once in a while. Last season for Monroe he drove in 13 runs in just 46 at-bats and had couple of clutch hits including a late-inning game-tying two-run double in the Mustangs second game of the season (a game the Mustangs went on to win in the bottom of the ninth).
