Monror College Athletics

Nelson Santiago joined the Monroe Mustangs coaching staff in 2024 as the JV Assistant Coach and was promoted to Head JV Coach in 2025. In addition to his coaching role, he serves as the Athletic Admissions Advisor at Monroe University, where he works closely with prospective student-athletes and their families throughout the admissions process.

A Queens, New York native, Santiago is a graduate of Benjamin N. Cardozo High School. He began his collegiate athletic career at North Carolina A&T before transferring to MidAmerica Nazarene University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology. Santiago competed for four years at the Division I level.

Following his collegiate career, Santiago founded NYC Rising Stars, a nonprofit organization focused on player development and academic advancement. Through the program, he has guided student-athletes at all levels, helping them develop on the court while successfully transitioning to the next stages of their athletic and academic journeys.
