Women's Volleyball to Open 2026 Season at Lackawanna

First season playing in the new NCAA scheduling alignment with the CACC

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Monroe University–New Rochelle women's volleyball team begins the 2026 season on the road at Lackawanna College on Tuesday, September 1 at 6:00 p.m. The Mustangs begin a new chapter in their program as they are competing in a NCAA Division II scheduling alliance with the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference as part of the transition period for NJCAA Division I to NCAA Division II.

"For us, it's about taking advantage of every practice, building our identity early and being prepared for the level of competition we're going to see," said head coach Nephtali Delgado Reyes. "We're excited about the challenge, and I think this new format will make the start of the season even more meaningful."

The Mustangs return six players to the 2026 roster while welcoming in 12. Last season, the Mustangs went 35-8, which included a trip to the NJCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Tournament, where they lost in the third round to No. 7 Iowa Central CC.

Reyes returns for his 16th season at the helm for the Mustangs. This will be his first season coaching against NCAA competition. Monroe will compete in 24 games this season, featuring fifteen away games and nine home games. The first home game for the Mustangs is set for Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 p.m. against Mercy University.

Entering Tuesday's matchup, the Mustangs are a perfect 6-0 against Lackawanna, as they won their last match on November 1, 2025, where they won in straight sets.
