NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – The Monroe University–New Rochelle men's soccer team begins its 2026 campaign on Thursday, August 27 at Southern Connecticut State University at 7:00 p.m.
The Mustangs enter the 2026 season in a new scheduling format as they transition into NCAA Division II. They will compete in a Central Collegiate Athletic Conference (CACC) schedule and face NCAA Division II teams this season. The Mustangs cannot compete in any postseason games this season.
Monroe returns 12 players from the 2025 squad, including Mohamed Mansare and Peterson Aquino, who were tied for third on the team in goals with four.
"The 2026 season and the group we've assembled have us excited," stated head coach Marcus DiBernardo. "We have a talented mix of returning players and newcomers, and throughout the preseason we've seen a lot of energy, commitment, and competitiveness from the team. We know there will be challenges along the way, but we're looking forward to the opportunity to compete and see what this team can accomplish."
The Owls of Southern Connecticut State finished the 2025 season with an 8-5-4 record and lost in the NE10 First Round against Adelphi.
The Mustangs kick off the 2026 season with five straight away games before returning home on Saturday, September 19, to welcome Holy Family University.
