NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. — The Monroe University men's soccer team battled back twice to earn a 2-2 draw against Felician University on Wednesday afternoon at Skidelsky Field. With the draw, the Mustangs moved to 4-4-2 on the season, while Felician improved to 3-4-5. Monroe finished with 11 shots, including six on goal, while Felician recorded six shots and five shots on target.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Felician struck first in the 33rd minute when Andre Cunha scored to give the Golden Falcons a 1-0 advantage.
The Mustangs answered just before halftime. In the 42nd minute, Brunno Rhyan found the back of the net off an assist from Jin Yamamoto, sending the teams into halftime tied at 1-1.
Monroe grabbed its first lead of the afternoon just 1:50 into the second half. Yamamoto scored his fifth goal of the season in the 47th minute, converting a pass from Kelvin Yengbie to put the Mustangs ahead 2-1.
Felician answered in the 64th minute when Dario Gomez scored off an assist from Cunha, leveling the match at 2-2.
Felician was reduced to 10 players in the 72nd minute when Cunha received a red card, but Monroe could not find the go-ahead goal in the final 18 minutes.
