Seney Named WHoopDirt.com NJCAA Coach of the Week

First Coach of the Week honor for Seney this season

BOSTON–Monroe Mustangs women's basketball head coach Mike Seney was named the NJCAA Coach of the Week by WHoopDirt.com as the website announced on Thursday morning. This is Seney's first Coach of the Week honor by WHoopDirt.com.

Seney guided the Mustangs to a pair of massive victories this past week, including one over a ranked opponent in a game that had added meaning for Seney. On Thursday, the Mustangs jumped out to a 29-4 lead after the first quarter at Lackawanna, never looking back, which led to a 93-39 win.

Following the win, Monroe returned home for a match-up against NJCAA DII No. 6 CCBC Essex, which was Coach Seney's old squad, last Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs dominated from the opening tip, picking up a 93-61 victory and avenging an early-season loss to the team Seney coached from 2019 to 2025. The win was also the Mustangs' first win over CCBC-Essex in program history.

Now 21-6 on the season, the Mustangs have won 15 consecutive contests since a loss on December 4. The Mustangs will close out the regular season with a home match-up against Harford Community College on Thursday at 5:00 p.m.
