Lake Wales, FL – The Monroe University women's volleyball team won its ninth consecutive match on Thursday night, defeating Warner University in straight sets (25-14, 25-17, 25-21).
The Mustangs once again dominated in the kill category, with freshman
Jelena Peric leading the way with nine on the day. The visitors also played a clean match, committing just six errors across the three sets.
It was a typical start to the day for Monroe as it controlled the first set, winning by 11 points.
Set two saw the kill gap close, but eight errors by Warner led to the 25-17 victory for Monroe.
Lastly, a .526 kill percentage helped the Mustangs emerge victorious in a closer third set.
Monroe's domination to close the season continues as it moves to 20-4 on the year. It will remain in Florida for the remainder of the weekend. The first of three remaining matches will occur on Friday, October 18, at 6:00 pm at St. Petersburg College.
ABOUT THE ATHLETIC PROGRAM AT MONROE UNIVERSITY
The athletic program at Monroe University encompasses a total of 28 teams competing across nine sports. There are 20 varsity and junior varsity programs, as well as the Monroe University marching band, competing on the New Rochelle campus as the Mustangs (NJCAA Division I). The Monroe Express, based out of the Bronx campus, has seven teams competing at the NJCAA Division III level.
